Transom @ the Keyhole should be 50.8 to 57.15 mm + or - 6.35 mm.

Is that what you have now???

I really don't think that's gunna cause a major problem. I'm NOT an I/O guy so I'll see if I can get one of the I/O experts to respond.

You read the manuals carefully, good! Speculating; If they round 1.6mm to 2mm one would think you're OK. If I were in your position I would leave it like that and concentrate on getting the parallelism as good as possible. Just my 1.6, no 2 euro cents.

Hey Guys!!

It's been a while since I've last posted here. I haven't been very active with the boat lately... Damn weather takes all your motivation.... It is cold and raining... Not a nice weather for a boat restoration :D But anyhow, some progress has happened. The boat is painted from the inside now, the matte spots have been polished now (turned out GREAT!) and the sides of the hull have been upholstered.

I don't know what happened with the last 5 pics... Last weekend we put the cap back on. I was little nervous about how it will sit on the hull, but it sits well! :) Feels so good to see her in one piece again!!! :D

Hey guys! Last week me and my grandpa built a cote for the boat, where she is going to overwinter. 028.jpg035.jpg038.jpg040.jpg041.jpg

Thank you Woody! Happy new year to you too! :)

Just got some goodies from the USA, decals for the boat :)

Next thing to do is to sand blast and paint the bell housing and out drive. Then it is just pretty much assembling. :)

I LIKE the Decals. Don't forget to use proper prep on the aluminum before painting. Very important to get proper adhesion for the paint.;)

Yes, so I have heard that aluminium is a little tricky to paint. Johan75 here stated couple months ago, that a local product called "peltipesu" is good product to use when you are painting aluminium. I read that it is an alkaline detergent that contains ammonia. The aluminium is wiped with this product real good, before you shoot the epoxy. :)

Yes, anything that gives it an "Acid Wash" will do the Trick. Heck, just using a 50/50 mix of Vinegar and Water is good.

Really? 50/50 mix of vinegar and water will work? If so, then I won't spend my money on the "peltipesu" product. After the vinegar/water treatment, should I wipe it with acetone, thinner, etc?

And I guess, it should paint as soon as possible after the sand blasting, right?

Yep, blast it, then wash it with the 50/50 and let it dry. The acid in the vinegar will slightly "Etch" the aluminum. Then Wash down with Acetone and shoot your primer.

Yup, vinegar should work just as well at least that's what I've been told elsewhere too (I think the guy who soda blasted the outdrive said so). I'm not sure how much you save on using vinegar though as Peltipesu isn't expensive. On the other hand, if you have enough vinegar then use that and buy a litre or so of acetone for the final wash. When I did my outdrive I first washed all parts with vinegar-water mix and then afterwards when I found Peltipesu I re-washed them.
