Went to get trailer and got boat for free

Went out on Saturday to get a boat trailer for $300 and got this boat for free. I think I going to restore and use this free boat as its better then the current one i am fixing. this is the new oneView attachment 230142View attachment 230143View attachment 230144View attachment 230145View attachment 230146 and this is my old one its bigger but not as functional and they are both chryslers.

I've had the same experience - believe me, it's not free......

you'll wish you had just accepted the trailer

Do yourself a favor and completely inspect the boat(transom, floatation foam, etc etc) BEFORE you start dumping any money into her. FREE boats typically end up costing WAY more money/time to rebuild than they are worth.

Aluminum boats are a pretty easy rebuild....fiberglass is a completely different animal.

JMO.

yeah free isn't always great (see sig line) but if the basics check out have fun.

Ya know, It's much easier to buy a used trailer if it has an old, POS, boat attached. Done it many times.

Oh, I feel so sorry for you. Free is anything but! :facepalm: :faint2:

However, IF after evaluating the free boat, you decide to refurbish it, you come to the best place for answers and help.

Only time will tell if it's a keeper or a canidate for the chop saw. from what I've seen so far it looks like it might not be too bad off. At least the seats are not al whethered and cracked which could be a good sign.

so yeah the free boat is pooched!~ the transom is totally gone as long with the floor and stringers. Going to keep fixing up my closed hull, actually took tomorrow off to work on it all weekend. Was entertaining the thought of cutting the open hull part off the new free boat and putting it into my closed hull to open her up and make some more useable space. I will reinforce it with fiberglass. Fiberglass is a piece of cake to do so I will give it a shot, Cant wait to start it, i will take lots of pics and post on here.
