Bondo, I read the thing and was confused by the remark, if you want a good anwser go to iboats but they think we are snobs. Guess they like the chat room thing, a lot of sites already have and some people on this site are trying to change the service part of the forums into. It's confusing enough when you ask a question with the differant anwsers without 3 or 4 people using it as a chat room besides :% Bob

i've always been treated real friendly here myself. i wanted to learn about boats. and this is the place to do it in my opinion. i'd rather be told i'm wrong in blunt langage than knot kwow that i'm wrong......

How else can you learn! If you get direct answers to your questions, you do not have to bother with translating the underlying BS.

I know of another site that is not so iboats friendly, but some of iboats regular folks are there as well. But it also seems those sites don't have very much to offer, technically or other wise.

I always thought I needed money to be a snob.Now I know all I have to do is post here.WOW that's easy,and cheap.

It is nice that it starts out with 'they can answer any question' but the 'just don't talk to them' is strange.

I always felt we are to the point because a lot of us work on boats for a living,and can eliminate a lot of the 'fluff' in questions.I quess that's being unkind to new posters.

At any rate the link upper right picture caption says : "Frantically Relaxing at Flaming Gorge"
Maybe 'flaming 'is what they do on that site.

A couple of years ago,... I posted on a thread that was asking, "What are the Best Shop Manuals?"..... To which I replied,...."Seloc, Clymer,+ Haynes are better than Nothing, but Not Much,... And the BEST was a Factory Shop Manual......
In that thread, Kev M, who happens to be the Editor/ Publisher of Seloc, came in Guns Ablazing at Me..... Stating that His Manuals were the Best in the World,+ Never Wrong......
Well,.... After a couple of pages of exchanges,.. The thread was Locked, but Only after Somebody went thru it,+ Edited most of My posts, making Me look like an Idiot........d
Unfortunately,.... I can't Find that thread anymore......

But,.....

I think that the main difference is that here many people are either professional mechanics or have done complete rebuilds and have seen the right and wrong way of doing things, over there (ABC) with a few exceptions, most are not doing major work, more like mild upgrades, or questions about buying new boats or maintenance. Here they bring them back from the dead!
So naturally the attitudes are different. I see the same thing on jeeps unlimited, you get newbies there who are too cheap to buy a shop manual and a torque wrench asking for advice on how to put their brakes back together, when they should be learning the right way. Read, learn, ask questions after you read and learned!

in the old days we didn't have the net to go to, so all you could do was read shop manuals and ask people who knew more than you.
