I recently cleaned my RIB and noticed it was very heavy. There was water inside the Rigid Fiberglass floor. I was able to drain it out by removing the drain plugs, but I am concerned that this is not normal. Anyone know how the water could get in the floor? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Hi knotty30,

Just had similar problem on my 400 rib, my drain plug is actually in the transom about 2" up from floor but there is a drain type plug in the floor for some reason. On unscrewing this plug I found and drained 4 galls of old water.

On testing this water was rainwater, I found that the mastic used when setting this plug to floor was powdered so allowing rainwater in.

I reset the plug onto dow corning marine sealant, I now hope that this has sorted out the problem.
