I have an older LCX-15MT lowrance with gps and mapping capabilities and I was wondering if anyone else has had experience with this unit in using the newer navionics chips (06 or 07) or only the older "classic" maps. Lowrance was unclear when I emailed them, and thought someone here might have personal experience. I would love to have the Hot Spot premium map 07 if it works, but would hate to fork out $150 for a chip that may or may not work.

thanks,
Marty

Where are you located? Maybe a fellow Iboater would be willing to pop their card in your unit to see if it works.

I have one. I live in the Los Angeles area.

Its best to let it install the undate onto a SD card on your computer

Then put it in the unit and it will update it on startup

Read it carefully there are 2 firmware updates 3.6 OR 3.7 (with a BIG DO NOT on the 3.7) depending on the exact age of the unit that update a LOT of things on the unit (about 40 fixs ) :D

#1 on the list is added support for new map chips

I am in fresno, and yes I have updated to version 3.7

I have used it without a chip and it seems fine, so I guess 3.7 is ok.
