I stumbled onto a deal yesterday that "I couldn't pass up". Some guy had 3 of these infamous little lawn mowers with a propeller. They were new and in boxes, 2 2003's and 1 2004. He had originally got 8 of them and was selling them for $450 ea. These last three wouldn't turn over with the pull start, so he let me have all 3 for $600. After pulling off the rope thingee I got all three of them free with a very light tug on the main crank nut. They felt very good from that point. I got two of them started yesterday, he admitted to pulling the plugs and squirting some oil into the cylinders. First one smoked a lot but finally cleared, second one fouled the plug with oil, but started after I cleaned that up, smoked then cleared. The third one . . . well it's really wet and I have had the plug out about 9 times. I am getting spark. Now to my question:

I have been using Q tips to try and get some of the oil out each time I have pulled the plug. Any better ideas?

Doesn't seem likely there is that much oil in the cylinder.
have you tried pulling the plug and laying it down to drain?Crank it over with the plug out.If there was so much oil it would be difficult to pull over.I wonder if it is over full and/or oil is getting in the intake from the PCV system?
Check the oil level. Are you getting any gas to the carb?Is there a gas shut off?Try a squirt of gas into the cylinder.

Thanks. I can actually see a small puddle. Turning on its side is much too simple for me to have thought of and precisely why I posted . . . :$ 8)

I can smell gas in the hole, PCV looks clean, definitely getting spark. She'll go I'm sure, but I think. this little bit is splashing the plug as I crank . I'll throw a little gas in there if all else fails.

3 for 3. Thanks. A little gas in the carb was the trick. Now it's pumping fuel and running fine.
