Wet Hull

I am working on a sail boat and the hull is wet and will not dry out. This is a race boat and does not stay in the water. I cant seem to get it to dry out so we can repair it. Been sitting inside a warm garage for 2 months now. Used a heat lamp to dry some of it. Put a plastic bag over it which drew a lot of water out. Grinded back damaged area but just when I think its dry more moisture shows up.. So I am wondering if there is anything I can put over the area to help draw the moisture out????? You know kind of like the rice trick with a wet cell phone..

Pix and a description of the type of hull construction plus more info about the damaged area [pix would be better] would all be helpful.

If you're dealing with a foam filled hull then I fear you'll find that you won't be able to dry it out. There's no way that I know to dry out the foam. NO WAY! Once it becomes saturated you could spend Years trying to remove the moisture. Several have tried...None have been successful!!!

Yeah, I had a Butterfly that was impossibly heavy. Same problem... wet foam

I think the worst part of the problem is that even when you get some of the water out, the foam has become porous and will just reabsorb it as soon as it comes back in contact with water.

LOL I know it asked me to write something with the upload but I dont see that... anyhow the top pics are where there was a repair failure.. Assuming they couldnt get it dry either..Bottom pic is just a reference pic.

Don't know to much about the "Windys" but if you can split the top and bottom halves to dig out the wet foam and replace it, replacing it should be fairly easy.

Although I'm a crushing sailor, we only race everyone else we can see going our way, I can tell that is a purpose built boat and a very nice one! Hope you can replace the foam and get her back to doing what she was built to do.

That is a nice looking fast sailboat. Access to the foam is imperative if you want to find out it's condition (if it has foam in the hull and it probably does because it looks like a boat that can get flipped a lot). And with a racing boat, you need it to be as light as absolutely possible. If anyone else you know has another boat in this sailing class, you might want to try to weigh it against the weight of yours. You might be able to tell a difference by just picking up the bow by hand on both boats.
