Time for some PM .Think I will do new manifolds this spring.About to buy some GLM for my twin 5.0 XL Mercruisers with alpha drives rwc. The manifolds stated that they were not for "Dry joint" applications.Dont remember ever seeing that before,I am sure there is a simple difference between the 2 however I would like to be sure.Charlie
Ayuh,.... Hi Charlie, Good to see ya 'round again,.....
The Dry-joint manifolds are a fairly recent innovation from Mercruiser,....
Don't remember the vintage of yer boat, but unless it's pretty New, you don't have Dry-joint manifolds, 'n risers,...
While I'm runnin' GLMs in my motor, I caution you, as mine needed the riser/ manifold gasket surfaces remachined to flatten 'em,....
As bought, the gaskets leaked, almost costin' me, my motor,....
'n,... Use the Mercruiser carbon/ metallic riser/ manifold gaskets,.....
Not the green paper ones that come with the GLMs,....
