my bass boat was very dull so i sanded it down and put on two coats of spar urethane. can anybody tell me how long i should wait before wet sanding. i plan on putting three more coats on wet sanding between each coat with 600 grit and then polishing with a auto polish on final coat.

thanks in advance

Is this a fiberglass boat? You put spar urethane on it? What brand? 600 grit might be a bit aggressive.

Well, I would not have used it. I know it says it can be use on fiberglass etc.. but not my choice. Is this a metalflake boat?

Re: wet sanding

If it was dull then you should have just sanded it with 800# lightly then 1000 grit and buffed it out with wax or rubbing compound.

Re: wet sanding

it is a metal flake boat and it was so bad that you could feel the flake and it was fall ing off. i already put three coats on it and now it is pretty slick. i was going to wet snd the n put final coat on and then buff. it probaly wasnt the smartest idea but it was what i come up with. and looks better than before. hope to get about two years out of it. thanks for your comments

Re: wet sanding

It will prolly last a couple yrs. Final wet sand with 1000 grit and buff with compound

In my opinion urethane will not bond well to fibergas and adding sun won't help either! Let us know how this works out over time.

I would regularly spritz/rub her down with something with plenty of UV protectant in it. Aerospace303 or Marine Wax
