I was wondering what would be a good good polish for my evinrudes. I got a 1985 9.9 and would like to do some detailing to it. The hood is in great shape but needs a little cleaning. Thanks.

I just use a regular car compound or scratch remover (in a tube) to remove stains or three sap and bird s...., then apply a few coats of quality car wax like NU-FINISH twice per season ....works for me ETEC 75hp is 2005 kicker is 1966 9.5hp

I use mineral spirits to clean painted surfaces. For a quick polish, use tire spray. For touch up paint, try Mercedes Diamond Blue (Tempo rattle can, I think.)

Diamond compound along with some rubbing with " ladies underwear " just works the best.

Wow you really got that 9.5 shinning. Is that hand buffed? So scratch off which I actually just bought and some car wax alright I’ll give it go. Never thought tire spray would work either

yes just hand buffing .... as to tire polish I would not use the foamy spray stuff to strip dull tires of brake dust, road dust, mud etc... from fear of harsher chemicals.

just mho with no experience with tire cleaners on outboard finishes.

Armor All, McGuires, etc. Works fine. For removing greasy fingerprints, try WD-40.

If you do some refinishing, you are probably familiar with clear coats. Best to test on the leg if not sure of compatibility. Obviously a more durable shine than waxes.
