Re: What 2 stroke oil do you like?

Ive been running the royal purple 2 cycle ever since my 140 got broken in. Its good oil and it is TCW-3 rated ( and it hardly smokes at all ) but in the research that Ive done on oils I'm not sold on the TCW-3 rating as a mark of the highest quality or effectiveness. Part of TCW-3 certification is the requirement that he oil be phosphorous free for environmental certification. Thats why a lot of the PWC makers don't recommend the stuff. Its not the best oil. Its the best oil that doesnt have phosphorous as an ingredient. OK. Worm can is opened.

Well then if all those qualifications are equal " Certified - Rated - Meets or exceed - or to be used for TCW-3 applications ... contrary to general opinions ... this would make Amsoil a good outboard oil. LOL (hey just kidding re: can of worms)

If you have some fantasy that oil branded Merc, OMC, Yammy, etc is made by them. . .forget it. All of that stuff is made by the oil companies that some of you are bashing, including Pennzoil, Quaker State, etc. The price is jacked up to pay for marketing.

Walmart sells SuperTech cheaper because they don't waste a fortune on promotion, advertizing and marketing hype.

I use SuperTech.

When I was racing karts, I used castor oil from the pharmacy.

Bring back LubeDude & OilDoc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am using Klotz Synthetic in my E-tec and have for the last few seasons. Burns extremely clean... It is obviously OVERKILL for most people, but my E-tec seems to like it.... Here is their tech sheet:

Please provide links to data. Anything that I have found shows that TC-W3 is a performance specification, not a formulation spec.

Its not who made it, its what's in the can.

Amsol may make Bombardier, OMC, Merc or even wallycrap, but the specs are different. Wally doesn't sell it cheaper because of less advertising, its cheaper because it only meets the minimum standard.

Try trolling for 6 hours straight and the differences in oils will become more obvious.

First time I read about someone else using castor oil except in a sport car club I belonged to way back then and we used castor oil in a % in our club race cars (MGA DKW ect) I can still remember the nice smell of burning castor oil going true the rings ... LOL (we must be from same generation) Cheers

In a way you are right, it's all the same oil base and companies make what they want out of it with additives. My uncle that worked for Veedol and then Castrol confirmed that.

As far as trolling for 6 hours ... I suspect JB has been there and done that ... LOL Cheers
