my father's day gift was a day of serious fishing
with my cuz. as much as I enjoy fishin/boating
with my kids, it's a lot different when you don't
have to untangle lines all day and play safety
officer.
meet him at his house at 6am, we hook up the boat
and head to Buffalo small boat harbor to launch.
we stop for some bait and my cuz decides to check
the weather once more on the vhf.
well, he's got ZERO juice from battery. dead as
a doornail. come to find out he hasn't even TRIED
to start his boat this year.
he tells me, no worries, I'll just pull start her.
yeah right! it's a '79 rude 70hp and hasn't been
even turned over since last july/aug. so we put
her in and he starts a' pullin....no way it's gonna
start with a pull rope. so he decides to go back
to his truck and pull the battery. he returns, but
he's got a side mount battery. so he "holds" the
battery wires againt the contacts and tells me to
turn the key  (no he didn't get zapped)
and believe it or not the motor srarts right up!

ended up being one of the best fishing days I've
had in years! we caught some really nice smallmouth,
the smallest ones being 14" and he lost a monster
that had to be 6lbs. we caught about 15 all together.
all day I was teasin him, calling him McGiver and
givin him hard time about being soooo stupid.
we head back in around 3:30 and now it's my turn
to be a retard
we were putting the boat on the trailer, when I
slipped walking the tounge and ended up on my behind
in about 3 feet of water LOL
got my payback I guess?
all in all it was the most fun I've had in years!
all's well that ends well I guess....
M.Y.

I took my father to Erie this weekend as well! Nobody got wet, but we ended up with 11 walleye, the largest one being about 4 lbs. We had a great time! :D

For fathers day, we went to Upper Kananaskis Lake
What a great day boating, We caught about a dozen
Dolly Varden (Bull trout) as they are called here
in Alberta. We were looking for Large rainbows. We
trolled flies & spinners , only one rainbow landed
though.

Hey mellow,

It never ends to amaze me how when a day seems to be one disaster after another, the day ends up being one of the best of times.

Life is strange and that is what makes living worthwhile.

Kenny
