I got home from werk last Saturday and took my 15 yr old Mini Schnauzer ' Spanky ' for a walk. Something was different in her usual enthusiasm and also her gait. By Monday night , she was falling over when she walked, and Tuesday morning , she could not even stand up without falling over. I spoke to my boss , and told him I wasn't going to be able to come to work today ,... I had to take her to the vet,and possibly put her down today. I also had to get my daughter home from school , so she could be here for whatever happened to the puppy she has loved for 15 yrs.
I went into work on Wed, and , as soon as he got there , he fired me. I couldn't believe it. Thats pretty messed up... I have been running his shop for the last five years.
I was in shock Wed.... and just took the day off.
I went out yesterday , and visited a shop that I did business with from my old shop , told them what happened , and they said " We start at 8am , be here , that guy is an ***** hole".
That was the first good news for me this week. The second best news is ... LESS HOURS AND MORE $$.
Things happen for a reason... don't give up when life sharts on you.... ;)
I feel VERY fortunate that in these financial times , that I was able to land on my feet this quickly. VERY fortunate.

Sweet, sharts on you... yeah, many many americans are going through that. seems the divide is getting bigger... higher costs on EVERYTHING and no end in sight while jobs continue to disappear.

Consider yourself very lucky. It's not always that nice of a story. Hope the dog pulls through... I didn't see what happened after the poss of putting her down :(

Hopefully, she is chasing squirrels someplace , she was euthanised at 7;03 that night .
I realise how lucky I was to land on my feet this quickly....maybe Spanky was watching out for me...

Stachi, I am glad you landed so well and I personally do believe she was watching out for you. Sounds like your old boss was a !@#@#!. Less hours more $ means more time for family and more time for boating. As far as your pup, I am sorry to hear. This poem always helps me when it is time for one of my animals to go.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Re: What a week.....

stachi; this amy also help
One adya an old man and his dog were walking along a country road when they came to gate. The old man didn't recognize the gate even though he had lived in the area for his whole life. The attendent intoduced himself as St Peter and the gates were in fact the Pearly gates of Heaven. The old man coould hear birds singing could lush green grass and plenty of trees for shade. The old man asked if he culd bring his dog in but the answer was no, only people could enter into Heaven. So the old man continued on his walk with his dog. A little farther on he came to another set of gates, with another attendent. The attendent also introduced the gates as the Pearly Gates of Heaven. Again the old man could hear birds and could see the lush grass and trees. He asked if he could bring his dog in and the answer was a resounding yes, all pets were welcome in Heaven. The the old man asked about the other gates he had come to first. St Peter's answer was that the first gates were to gates to Hell, that was also the reason that dogs weren't allowed in. The old man replied,

"I wouldn't want to go anywhere my dog's not allowed anyhow!"
