What are these called, down riggers?

I purchased a boat a few years back and the guy I bought it from included these in the sale, could anyone out there tell me exactly what they are called and how to use them, im assuming theyre for fishing?

Looks like rod holder trees with line reels for "big" planner boards to me,....

Looks like these will be going to the junk pile....Id rather use regular planer boards than mess with these trees..

I'm guessing that "regular boards" means the inline boards??


If you ever run big boards on the big lake they might come in handy,.....

I'm sure you could sell them as well,.......

Eric - Depending on where you are in MI, I'll gladly take them and help you keep a clean garage.

After watching that vid i can safely say they'd be going on craigslist as i'd never use them lol.
