I have a 4 hp johnson seahorse Model # 4w79d
There are two big rubber o-rings or washers or gaskets that the motor swivils on while turning. I guess these are wearing out because there is a lot of forward and back play in this area. could someone shed some light on this for me? I need to replace them.

Thanks,
Suzuki40

You should have 2 of them , one upper , one lower. They are called Vibration Dampeners...
Riding inside of these two dampeners are 2 Pivot Bearings (plastic/nylon), again one upper, one lower.

Changing them are a snap. Since you have a 1979 motor, I would think any dealer could order them in short order.
