What are these holes in my lower mid section?

Hello

I have a Evinrude motor with no tell tale. It doesn't have water misting/coming out of the 2 exhaust relief ports but I hear that happenes when only ran on muffs and not submerged.

There is water coming out of these hole and it seems the hole in going thru the drive shaft area. Is water supposed to come out of these holes?

Your pix are too big, Damian. Unable to see anything.

You haven't told us anything about your outboard except that it is an Evinrude. That is not enough.

Please resize the pix and tell us what outboard (exactly) you have.

Well its 1976 55HP Evinrude.

Sorry for the pics.Its standard size for my camera. Ill guess I have to tinker around to make em' smaller. What size is best for you?

I heard from someone that it is drainage holes for the drive shaft area. There is 1 drain hole up further aswell.
But was is the function of these holes? I know to drain but why have it where water would get in there in the first place at all?

You can resize them in Photobucket. Just highlight one of them, and then edit it. You'll have to repost them though by cut and paste again. (Although, you may have already done that since "I" can see them, so nevermind and please carry on.....)

If I am looking at what I think I'm looking at, those are drain holes for the drive shaft enclosure tube. Water escapes from the water pump, around the hole that the drive shaft passes through. If it were not drained off, it would rise up the tube and damage the powerhead. There is also a vent hole at the top.

So everything is okay, very cool. Im gonna do the water pump job anyway, because I like to do it 'just cause' when I first buy a motor off someone.

Shame the kit is $75. Mabey the housing is in good shape and the metal isn't grooved and I can get away with just a impeller, though I dont like replacing just that.
