Heated garage kept ... use it for hunting till the water hardens, usually the end of January/beginning of February. Lots of good hunting till then.

Then in March, time to get it out for the spring thaw and fishing. No time for projects! :p

Why not just take your present prop off and have it reconditioned. No need to get TWO NEW props.

I have stock Volvo props that have already been tweaked. I am buying two new props that are more suited to our boating style, and probably still have them tweaked.. One for speed and one for playing.:D

Cool wife. Not to many take interests in this boat thing. Good for you. She's a keeper.

Thanks, yes she is. She does most all of the cleaning and upkeep on the boat. Makes sure that everything we need for a weekend is in the boat and much more. All I have to do is keep her waxed and fueled.
She even backs us down to launch and again when trailering.:D
I only have to drive the boat. And now my daughter is pushing real hard to take over that duty. Got her safety certificate and isn't half bad of a skipper.
I might just find myself sitting in the bow sipping a frosty next year, relaxing the whole way:p.

im goin fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i fish all year, as a matter of fact i cant wait till it gets cold in oklahoma.

when the water gets down around 40-45 those big blue cats go to deep water.......... in the lake i love to fish there is a whole lot more shallow than deep, so that kind of narrows it down for the die hard cat fisherman

im thinking this year i may have to come up with some kind of heater........ after throwing the bait net for a while you cant feel your fingers.

i will be winterizing my 18hp and 9.8hp on my little aluminum boats... or tin, or whatever they are made of......... one of my buds call them "drown me boats" since they only have a 4' beam and try to throw you out if you stand up and get excited...... yes he is one of those guys who practically jumps up and down when he catches a fish.. and everyone of his fish is gonna need the net ..... but he is cool despite the hilarious behavior :D

Late in the summer, I acquired a 4.5HP Johnson to use as a kicker. We have already been landlocked for a few weeks due to bad weekend weather patterns and conflicting family obligations.

So, I've been busy cleaning, sanding and re-painting the kicker and replacing a few rigged parts (e.g. broken choke knob pieced together with a threaded insert, etc.).

Starting to look sharp and the wife asked me about the main outboard now, lol.

As far as the boat goes, I put a lot of work in last winter taking off the bottom paint. Not much to do this year. I have two 4x4" patches to remove where the boat was blocked (hoped they'd sluff off over the summer, but that didn't happen). Also would like to re-paint the anti-skid patterns, but temp won't likely allow that over the winter in the garage.

I guess house projects get my attention this winter since the boat won out last winter.

Its nice to have a crew, hey Thad? I'm a lucky guy too:)

Well, except for my cracked block. That's my project for the winter once the water up here turns to ice. Seems like the previous owner didn't understand that water expands when it freezes....

This winter, the I'm rebuilding the engine. Next winter, either the hull or interior. Or both if I have a banner year.

Some transom repair work for me, followed by finding and installing a new (used) motor!

Also some old wiring to be replaced, install a second bilge pump and replace a few screws and bolts that got a bit rusty from salt water this season.

Huh?? Winter??

boy_confused.gif

Mumble, hrummph, grmmpp, spit, grumble

I'll winterize it, but leave the option open to hook up and head South if it gets ridiculous.

Pray to have her running by Christmas. Actually i would like to have her painted, reupholstered, and running by Christmas, but most likely she will just get the engine reassembled and reinstalled. Plus some trailer work. Gotta love Florida, never winterized a boat, actually we regularly use Christmas holidays for an excuse to get on the water.
