Re: What are your storage fees for winter?

Last year it was free! I have mine stored in a neighbors garage and in trade I plow the snow from the driveway........ last year we did not have enough snow to plow so it was free ;)

Im lucky to have a 24/30 room we dont use at work, and keep my boat there with my HD FatBoy, its heated also. So $0.0 for heated storage is a work benny.

I pay $300 for the year for outdoor storage in Indy. I have my cover on and will probably throw a large blue tarp over the top of it just to help with fading over the winter. I paid $203 in winterizing fees and just put the boat away this past weekend.

$18,000 a year? I'll keep it on a lift for you for $15,000. Is this a lift on a pier, or dry stack?

And Rallyart makes a good point people often overlook: storing stuff at home costs you part of your mortgage payment, or your building/maintenance costs including tax and insurance. If you have acres and acres, or unused out buildings, it's negligable, but if you clear out a suburban garage to stuff a boat in there, it's a cost.

The cabin is my parents place , so it is actually free to me ;)

$0.00 - I park it outside at my parent's house after its winterized and shrink wrapped.

I look at it this way...gives me a spare 40 gal of gas should the need arise. And with this economy, that extra 40 gal may come in handy.

Inside heated, $5.99 sag ft, $5200 for the season. Always better to store heated when you can in my opinion, besides I like to work on a few projects during the winter season.

I pay $1 per day for inside storage. I usually only store nov to april... so about $150 a season.

I have been looking around here and what I found is $1000 (inside storage, wrapping and winterizing), my question is if you store inside why do you need wrapping, sorry newbie here

Florida Baby! My current boat is in high and dry and we will be using it year round. On my previous boats I would just stick a droplight in the engine bay on nights that threatened to go below 32* (maybe 2-3 times per winter)

It's how the marina's make money on newbies.

If it's heated doesn't even need winterizing, as to freezing, but would want some attention to not being run for X months.

At most a loose breathable cover for dust, but that's just a convenience.

Although some like covers to keep out mice, that seems like a lot to do for mice.

mine is in my garage, however, inside cave storage here in KC runs between $70 and $120 per month. Good thing there is same temp all winter long, power or no power. I may move it there in the middle of winter after I get tire of scraping windows in the morning!

For that I also get a waterfront house and and 3 acres, should have been clear.

In Malta, I pay about $750 p.a. for outdoor storage facilities - and the weather here is kind enough without any extremes, so you can work on the boat most weekends. I had a smaller boat that fitted in my home garage but since i upgraded, this is a new cost.

My winterization and stores charges for its three month of limited use are $0.

I keep my boat in a "climate controlled" (average low 32, average high 48) pole barn out back. No shrink-wrap or covers required. No need to winterize, it is an outboard.

Running for office? Only then is something 5 for a dollar cheaper than 20 cents each. :D:D

I pay $200 per year. It is an outdoor storage 5 min away from the lake and 30min away from my house.

$39/mo. for my 30' boat at my homeport, outside storage. $180/mo. where it is currently located if I can't get it repaired before November. I guess my yearly slip fee provides me a break when the boat is stored.

Re: What are your storage fees for winter?

I store my 22 foot deckboat in a polebarn, not heated for $160.
Most facilities near me get $300-$350 for same.
I winteriize it, put the covers on, and toss a tarp on top just as a dust cover.

The pontoon sits in the backyard. Rent a trailer for in and out, cover on, winterize, build a framework out of cheap lumber to give plenty of pitch to the tarp over it. Thinking I may keep it inside next year too if the barn's owner will squeeze it in ...
