I have a 17' Alumacraft that works nicely with a 40 HP motor.

Not offering the boat, but you can go up to a decent size if she's flat-bottomed. Need less power to plane on flat-bottomed boats.

Plus, there is more usable space versus your current rig.

Did you fix your motor SBL? If so, what was wrong with it?... if not, don't count your chickens before they're hatched.

I suggest having your motor running perfectly before asking this question.

I think there's quite a bit more wrong with your motor than you think and care to admit.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. I know I'm probably wasting my time because you never take good advice.

Take your motor to a certified marine mechanic and have it diagnosed to see if it's worth saving or not. You don't need to have them fix it if it's something you can do yourself... but before you spend any time or money building a motor stand you need to find out if it's worth the effort.

Outboard motors don't struggle to turn over because of something minor other than a weak battery. I suspect you have internal damage to your motor that will be more expensive to fix than the motor is worth, if it can be fixed.

I think your real passion is posting unintelligible stuff on internet forums.

Get an aluminum hull. A 16'ish Starcraft, Sea Nymph, Smokercraft, Mirrocraft, etc etc would all do nicely with that motor.

My advice would be to take a deep breath, push your chair back, stand up, go outside and actually do something instead of just asking questions over and over. I'm beginning to doubt whether you even own a boat or a motor. Looks to me like you just spend all your time trying to keep people talking to you as long as you can.

I run a 50 yamaha on a 19' Carolina Skiff, used pretty much as a work boat. I'd like a few more horses but it works. BTW it's the j series, perfectly flat hull.

Used to have 16' alum starcraft bow riders with 55's and they did fine. That would be a good rig for you.

Re: what boat would be perfect?

SBL, At your age I would think you would be thinking about saving some money to buy a car or truck soon, when your old enough to drive. It will help alot w getting to and from jobs and school, and you can make money w a truck doing all kinds of things, yardwork, hauling debris or trash etc. When you have money to spend, you can enjoy your love of boats alot easier as nothing is cheap when it comes to owning and fixing them, unless it is already junk. Working on or fixing auto's is something you can learn that will help w your mechanical ability, and if an auto breaks down, your on the side of the road, not dead in the water or sinking in a badly repaired boat. What you really need is to calm down, and take the time to learn how to do the things you seem to enjoy the right way. "There's nothing like seeing the finished product" only happens when you've finished it, and it's done the right way.

Re: what boat would be perfect?

50hp is not going to push much. I would recommend getting a 150hp engine first, then decide what boat to get.
