What bouy?

My dad and two of his friends were fishing in a small seacrest boat, (with a '76 Evinrude 25). Unfortunately they all decided to sit in the back of the boat, which caused the bow of the boat to rise up and obstruct my dads view. To make a long story short, he ran over one of the 10 mile an hour bouys and shredded it. It knocked a nice chunk out of the cavitation plate and mangled the prop, but nobody got hurt. The funny thing was, the DNR didnt replace that bouy for a year, so we got to laugh about it every time we passed it. :D
Oh, and by the way, the little Evinrude still runs like a dream.

i dont see whats funny about it. generally when you destroy something, accidental or not you replace it. instead of making some one else pay for it.

thats the way ive been taught, but i guess not everyone is honest and decent.

Re: What bouy?

Sorry bluechips, I was trying to keep the post short, so I didnt go into that much detail. We contacted the DNR,(Department of Natural Resources), after the accident, and they informed us that we would not have to pay for fixing the bouy because they were in the process of changing all of the bouys on the lake anyway, (the bouys were all getting old and dry rotted). For some reason, this particular bouy was not changed for a year or so after my Dads incident. The reason that I thought it was funny is because we got to make fun of my Dad everytime we saw that bouy, as he would have done to any of us.
I am not going to get into name calling on a boating forum, but I do not appreciate being called dishonest, and I can assure you that I am a decent person, as is my father.

I was taught that you don't pass judgement, until you know all the facts.

Re: What bouy?

eh carp hunter, fisrt time ive been on this thread in about 1 1/2-2weeks. but hope thiers no hard feelings. I really dont care about a bouy in a country i've never been to, maby i was in lousy mood that night or somthing.

but when you write somthing, try to think of the view point of the person reading it. we only know what you tell us. I was thinking hey, this guy smashed a bouy and thinks its funny. he even laughs every time he drives by it. Adding few minor details can make a big difference.

-----------
oh im the last person who should givng an english lesson. failed it in grade 12, and just barley pased the 2nd time round. :D
