What brand of boat is this? I have never seen one quite like it.

That is a Basic Old Boat.
Looks well maintained. if the trailer comes with it, for $400 you are good to go. Grab it.
Maybe even without the trailer $400 is a good deal if it doesn't leak--look for corrosion/splits around the rivets and the stern corners, and the bottom where the hull and transom join (gets worn out from dragging).
Regardless of brand, check the strength of the transom and consider reinforcing.

No matter what the boat's worth, the trailer is probably worth twice that.

I think I've deided against it. He purchased the boat last year and fixed it up. He tighetened the rivets because the bottom was leaking. The said there was a crack in the bottom and told me he "aluminum welded it witha torch". Doesn't sound like a repair job I want to come in after. I would rather he welded it with a tig.

nothing wrong with aluminum welds, as long as they were done right, but from the sounds of it... they weren't.. and tightening rivets?

hmmmm....

That is what I assumed he meant by tightening the rivets was hammering them from both sides. I was happy when he told me that he had aluminum welded it, then my hopes sunk when he brought up a torch.
