I figured while I was working on my little bass boat, I'd try to find a runabout or little bowrider that I could work on at the same time. Got a response to my CL ad today from a guy who has a 16 1/2' Aero-Craft that he said he'd give me. Yeah I know the whole "no boat is free" deal. He has no pics and no idea what model it is. This young guy got it from someone, wanting to fix it up but lost interest. He knows nothing about boats and I had a real hard time getting a decent description out of him, other than that it is in good shape, fiberglass, and not very wide. He guessed 4' wide but I thought surely it has to have at least a 5' beam to be that long. Any idea what boat I could be talking about here?
I'm thinking about going and picking it up tomorrow, it's over an hour away so I hope I don't get there and it's something like a beat-up Gheenoe
The temptation is too great to pass up, I think. Geez, I think this boat restoration stuff could get worse than my mandolin building addiction.
Fiberglassics.com does have some nice pics of older Aero-Craft boats, pretty cool site...
