What coil goes to what points ?

Hello again,can anyone help me with this? On my 58 JW-14 3hp, looking down at the points and coils with my fat belly in front of the motor, and the motor turning clockwise, the upper coil is facing me.The lower is away from me.My question is which points do I hook up to which coil?From the manuals I have seen, it looks like the upper points are attached to the upper coil right before the upper coil,not after. is this right? To me it makes more sense that the points open after the coil is loaded.So the upper points whould be after the upper coil.Or am I all washed up on this? Please help me out on this,thanks.

As you're standing in front of the engine, looking down at the coil closest to you, the related points would be just to the right of the coil.

Technically, the forward coil attaches to the points on the port side of the armature plate.

The flywheel magnets pass the points before loading the coil BUT do not open untill after the magnets have past the coil.

Set the points as follows. Have the flywheel key aligned with the fiber rubber portion of the ignition points. Adjust the gap so that a .020 gauge will pass thru but a .022 will not. Should there be any question of the points being dirty (touching the contact with your finger would cause them to be dirty), clean them with a small brush and acetone or lacquer thinner.

NOTE: Should the operating cam have a small portion on it with the word "SET" imprinted, align this portion with the fiber rubbing portion instead of the flywheel key.

OK ,so the port side points,left standing behind the motor hook to the upper coil which is toward the front of the motor.Did I get this right?Thanks again.
