Have a new block 5,0 gm vortec with new Monitor cooling system. What kind of cooling fluid should I use? One manual says dexcool, the other says LongLife....
Whats your suggestion??

Merc uses Dex and guess because they are GM motors. I would have no problem using the regular green stuff, nothing last forever and needs to be changed at some point

any of the OAT and HOAT coolants only last 5 years.

if in doubt, run dexcool

dexcool has gotten a bad rap because of poorly designed intake manifold gaskets that coincided with when the stuff came out. Like all coolant, make sure you change it regularly and use distilled water to do the 50/50 mix.

When it came time to change the coolant in my GM truck, I put Dexcool back in.

If you do a change to the green stuff, make sure you do a really good flush of your cooling system to get all of the dexcool out.
