hello guys, i need some info here.

i install two fishfinder on my searay 1990 220 .

they work fine but as soon as i start driving. and about to go on plane both lost bottom, lock up and just keep blinkink, showing only the previous dept,

i have them both on the starboard side of the boat.

maybe i should have mounted them on the port side of this boat.

instalation. i use a straight edge on the bottom of the boat to install both. so the bottom of the transducer is just level with the bottom of the boat.

last i dont plan on running both units at the same time, just nice to have a back up.

lowrance x107

furuno ls6100

thanks for some nice input on this guys.

Are they kicking up from the water pressure? It is also possible they are mounted in line with some strakes or other protrusions on the bottom of the boat that cause turbulence when under way. Air bubbles will confuse the locator.

thanks no they are not behind any obstruction.

not kicking up.

but after thinking i think i might mounted them too close to the outdrive. my engine is a right hand rotation.

Getting too close to the outdrive can indeed cause the problem.

If you mounted the way you say they are way too high. With a straight edge on the bottom it should line up with center of the transducer on the deep side. Mounted on starboard put a straight edge to the left motor side the top of the straight edge should be even with the center of the transducer. Transducer should point straight down so the right side of the transducer will be completely below the hull on a V Hull. Transducer can point a couple of degrees foward. (Starboard Best side for Right hand prop). If you have room put 12 to 18 inches from from center line. If you get out near chims will loose signal when on plane. Near your speedometer pick up is usually a good place.

boatis i think you hit it on the head.

so you are saying. with the straight edge laying on the hull it must hit half an half with the ducer,???

also 12 to 18 inchess away from the transom bellows.???

there was a speeder meter mounting bracket on the hull but i took it off and from there to where i have the ducers now, it is way more in to the bellows. so i ges that my problem.

mann that 300 dollars to haul the boat again. thanks boatis if you have any more info i will take it also lol

so portside for a right hand roatation is a no no ?????
