What do I need to check RPM?

71 johnson 3 cyl 60 hp. Converted to Battery Ignition.

Obviously it doesn't have a tach now or a "real" distributer.

What can I hook up to this thing (and more importantly where and how!) to check my RPMs?

That looks like exactly what I need but am unsure which model I need.

I have a 71 johnson 3 Cyl 60HP. Converted to Battery Ignition.

The only 3 Cyl. thing I see there says it's for jet-skis.

Any advice?

Zep. All you have to do is call them and they will tell you the correct one to get. Also, they have extra cable if you plan on mounting it more than 6' from the motor. Make sure you order some when you get the Tach.....
