I am comparing a 2004 Four Winns 230 to the 2008 Four Winns 240 (the current model designation for the same boat), and trying to get some understanding of differences between the boats based on specs for the boats posted on the Four Winns website. There is an 11" difference in "bridge clearance", and a 4" difference in "Keel to W/S Shelf", but I'm not sure what those terms mean. The boats are the same in "Cockpit Height (stern)" and "Cockpit Height (helm)", but I'm also not certain what those measure. Internet searches have not helped. Appreciate any guidance you can give.

Any other differences between the two models you may be aware of would also be appreciated.

The "4" from Keel to W/S Shelf" comment sounds like they are trying to measure the deadrise at the transom. Basically saying that the keel is 4" below the bottom of the gunwhale, which tells you absolutely nothing if you don't know the length from keel to gunwhale. It's a meaningless spec.

Are you sure the two models aren't different in overall length? It would be odd to change the model number unless they added several inches to the length to designate a 24' boat as opposed to a 23'.

All I can think of, as stupid as it seems is a measurement from the keel to the windshield shelf.

Well instead of guessing....... contact Four Winns. They are a very active company.

W/S = Windshield Shelf....I'm 100% sure of that.

If there is a 4" DIFFERENCE from the 04 to the 08 there is overall height of the boat. It could be a deck design change while the hull stayed the same.
