Re: What do you do for Christmas

Christmas for us is a big family gathering on Xmas Eve at a relatives house, we chat, have a big Italian suppa,(supper) desserts, coffee and play a few games of cribbage.

On Christmas day, we all go to another relatives house for Ham and Turkey dinner and all of the above.

And then we have a second Xmas on the following Saturday. Relatives come from all over the country, some fly in and others come by car and stay the weekend. Prior to this in the summer at a family garthering, the adults draw a name out of a hat and you buy a gift for that person that you draw and there is a dollar amount limit on spending. Any adult that have young children bring a gift for their child, the kids open their gifts first, then they run around the house doing what ever while the adults open their gift. Then it is dinner time.

Merry Christmas to All!!! HO! HO! HO!

That sounds like a darn good Christmas to me Fly Rod. Ours is fairly similar. I just got word today that my sister and my brother-in-law are coming to visit between Christmas and New Years. My brother-in-law is a PA State Trooper and has to work Christmas. They came for Thanksgiving which was great but we didn't expect to get to see them around Christmas so we're thrilled they're coming. They only live 4 hours away but we still don't see them as often as we'd like.

To help the needy in these hard times. :)

If you own a boat then you can afford to give a little back !!. :)

What if you own multiple boats that need work?

Seriously. My wife and I have always made a pretty big deal about Christmas.
We have a four year old son too so we feel it's important for him to enjoy it.
Should do more on the religious side though.

Christmas is a very fun time of the year for me too. i even enjoy it with all the snow we get or about to get. My song would be i am dreaming of a brown christmas. but that aside I enjoy the time of year. everyone usually in a nice mood. we always have my whole family over christmas. usually just have light snacky food a few hot toddies and exchange gifts.usually start about 8 pm and people are leaving around 1 or 2 AM. then christmas day we usually spend over at my wifes family.

When the kids were little, it was a great time. We'd get a DNR permit and go out and "hunt" a tree in the wild, among other things we'd do...

Nowadays the kids are grown and several thousand miles away (and different directions-one on the West Coast and one in Spain) and the radio station I like has already switched to Christmas music BAH HUMBUG!!!

I travelled to the West Coast for Thanksgiving which was fun, but wintertime travel can be a pain, and I don't like to attempt it generally....

Oh Well!!!
