What do you guys think about this motor for my 13' Whaler?

It looks perfect HOWEVER the "fresh rebuild" scares me. The guy says the oil pump failed so he replaced the pistons/rings in it and now it should be like new. Im worried about the quality of his work and why the oil pump failed already. What do you guys think? How can I find more information about his shop?

well...

you could ask for references (some of his other customers) or you could check with the local BBB or Craigs List for input (post on the Rants and Raves page and ask for customer experiences for his shop...)

30 day warranty? I'd ask for at least a year.

Is your Whaler 13 pre-1973? Those had 15" transoms. The later ones have 20" transoms.

If your boat is a 1973 or later that engine won't fit.

When in doubt, leave it out!
