What do you like to do?

I know we all share a common interest in boating or else we would'nt be here... Lets put boating, fishing, and politics aside for a moment and ask the question, what are our other hobbies and interests?... Or vices perhaps? <br /><br />I'll start..<br /><br />I enjoy listening to, and playing (I play guitar) music of all sorts... From Mozart to Chet Atkins.. Rock, Blues, Rockabilly, older Country, Jazz, Clasical...<br /><br /> I also like to design and build stringed instruments.. Guitars, ect. Have made a couple guitars... Want to build a big archtop jazz guitar next and maybe a mandolin too, when I get some free time... <br /><br />I like to tinker around with almost anything mechanical... Cars, trucks, the lawnmower, whatever...

Although the new boy and boating take up most of our spare time and I work long hours on occasion...<br />I enjoy wrenching on things too. The shop is empty at the moment but I'm trying to get a '60 Vette (in pieces) off a buddy of mine to do up. I'm into home reno's... got the place lookin' pretty good. I play the drums but I don't have a kit at the moment... actually I don't think I have time to play them anyways A couple buddys and I had an AC/DC tribute band not long ago, I had fun but family has to come first. Those 'jam' nights are time consuming with all that beer n' music. <br />One other thing, sometimes I don't follow up on every reply I post. The reason is I don't get a lot of time to sit at the keyboard. Life's a busy place right now... and I love it!!

Besides boats and fishing I love woodworking and carpentry in general. My last major project was building a big shed for the back. Was a lot of fun.<br /><br />Latley, because of the boat, I want to see if I can rebuild a classic muscle car. I've put it on the idea list anyway <br /><br />I used to love to write code (programs) but those days are over. I don't have time. <br /><br />Not too long ago I had time for NOTHING besides work. I'm kinda enjoying the break I'm taking to spend with my family and do thing like build the boat and shed. I think it added 10-20 years to my life. I think this is my last summer - time to get back into the game....

When the weather cools and the river swells and gets muddy, I like to ride my horse. I've ridden with and learned from a lot of old timers how to ride, rope and doctor cattle.<br />I do it as a hobby and I've gotten in good with a few local ranches by fixin' fences and cuttin' bull calves.<br />Actually, I'm a man of many hats.

For a hobby I repair video equipment. As a youngster I did an apprenticeship in electrical engineering, before studying nursing.<br />I get a kick out of repairing all the neighbourhood electrics as do they.<br />I love looking after (fussing) my grandaughter.<br />And generally tinkering about in my garage taking things apart or repairing them. <br />Favourite music - I'm eclectic really, if'n it sounds good I'll buy it and play it so theres a good collection of classical to jaz, ballads to rock!<br />Favourite Films - I like odd things like "Sliding Doors", "The Dove" (oldie but a goodie), "Room With a View", "The Incredible Mr Ripely".<br />Favourite books - Presently reading "The Company" by Robert Littell, a good story about the CIA, KGB and other agencies from 1950 thru to 1992. I don't have many reading books as my library is full of books on hunting, fishing and cooking.<br />People I hold in high regard - Sir Edmond Hillary, he climbed Mt Everest, but far greater than that he gave schools and buildings and much learing equipment to the Sherpa villagers in Nepal throughout his life.<br />My father - for being my mentor and great friend. For teaching me that there's no greater feeling than freedom and being responsible for that freedom. For giving me the gift of maturity at a young age, he guided me wisely through puberty and encouraged me in everything I did.<br />Finally my wishes for the future - I have no great desires other then for my family & friends to love me as much as they do now, and to return that love to them as long as I'm able.<br />Ross

Geee hobbies hum well I guess i have to say that boating and fishing takes up most of my time so hobbies are hard to enjoy but I dont know if this qualifies but i do a lot of work on stream rehabilitation here and also spend a lot of time teaching kids and their dada about the merits of catch and release

Well let's see.<br /><br />I have no vices. Don't drink, never have, don't smoke, anymore, and don't do anything harmful to anyone.<br /><br />I like to camp, cut grass and do landscaping which is another business I have.<br /><br />Also like to make people smile when I can.<br /><br />Pretty much a dull guy, but life is good and I am thankful each morning for just waking up.

Skinnywater, you're a rider & roper huh? Boy am I jealous. Cost a fortune to keep a horse here. Easily a $1,000/month activity. I do like riding though....<br /><br />SBN any horses on the 'ol KY spread?

When I get some spare time, I enjoy rebuilding my 1994 Lotus Esprit Twin Turbo that I bought 3 years ago.<br /><br />The car was totaled when I got it, and parts are expensive and have to come from England, so progress is slow.<br /><br />Hope to have it up and running next summer! <br /><br />Other than that, just boating and fishing in the summer, and skiing in the winter.<br /><br />Lets hope we get as much snow this winter, as we did rain, this summer!<br /><br />Kenny

In the winter months I try and hit a few regional Bowling Tourns just to keep my PBA card intact...other than that I just sit in my boat with the coffee and newspaper and wish the winter away.....

Not now anyway.<br /><br />Back in my younger years, we had some cattle and some hogs that we raised for meat, but I don't do that anymore.<br /><br />Maybe sometime in the future I will get back into it.<br /><br />Almost forgot, I also like to remodel my outhouse once a year.

I enjoy riding my motorcycles a lot. When I am not fishing or riding I restore antique American motorcycles, right now I am doing a 1937 harley ULH flathead, it is very time consuming and some times it takes years just to get all the correct parts for these machines. Nice thing is that when it begins to feel like work I can just walk away from it for a while. I also collect antique american motorcycle memorabilia. things like old Gypsy tour pins,riders handbooks, leather helmets,tools etc,etc. Turkey hunting has got be one of my favorite things to do also. Nothing like hearing that thundering gobble boom through the spring woods.

Besides hunting and fishing with my son I enjoy building and flying R/C airplanes, I weld and build custom items for friends such as arbors, trailers, built a bed for woman. I also enjoy training pointing dogs...Bittanies and Setters.

What my non-boating hobby seems to have turned out to be is fixing stuff for my kids. They're smart-- they make sure I see something that they're about to throw away and I take it and fix it up for myself. Lawnmowers, BBQ grills, etc. When I get it all fixed up, they "decide" they weren't going to throw it away anyway and take it back. Current one is a truck my son left at my house for Old Dad to use anytime he wants. You guessed it-- it has a warped brake rotor that needs fixing. What ya gonna do? I just laugh and keep on doing it. It's gotten to be a family joke. Kids: " Are you going to get that fixed?" "No. I'm going to throw it away when Dads around. Ha Ha".

I love reading my bible and studying the Word, going to three different churches and listening to contemporary praise and worship music.<br />I also enjoy shooting guns, off-roading, playing with my four dogs (rottweilers are the best ) and cooking. My wife and I have a little ministry and we love to serve the Lord and follow where He leads. He has been very good to us, I wish we could be as good to Him.

fishing, what else is there? <br />well i like to golf, bowl, and play fantasy football, and work on the inside of the house(when i have money) my life is pretty boring because i really dont have any close friends or family here, other than the wife & kids.
