Yeah, even relatively small tractors like that Fergy can bite ya pretty good if you get careless. I'm in the process of repairing the starter cut out which prevents firing up unless you are in neutral. Previous owner nearly killed himself by cranking it over while standing beside it. It was in gear, started immediately and would have crushed him if the rear tires hadn't been sitting on a bit of spilled tranny fluid. They spun just long enough without traction for him to jump out of the way.

The PTO is also a nasty accident waiting to happen. I always have to tell myself to slow down and not be in such a rush jumping on and off, check everything twice before I start it and keep the kiddies well clear. Other than that she's a real fun old girl to putter about with.

I tow a 14'6" aluminum hull boat with a 2001 Honda Civic EX and dont have any problems anywhere. I dont go more than 55-60 MPH with it but it handles just fine. The boat is heavier than you might think as well as it has a carpeted deck, livewell, bilge pump etc.

I tow my 1980 Baja 16' w/ Mercury 115 with my work truck. 2001 F-250 diesel with a chip and 4" exhaust. It doesn't even know the boat is there. I usually use the truck for work hauling 24' gooseneck with timbers or logs. It knows the gooseneck is there! An engine or exhaust brake would be nice for that! I would like to set up my Subaru Outback to haul the boat though. Or the wife's Pacifica. She doesn't really like the truck.

I have a 1999 4Runner Limited, 4WD and a tow package. True truck that performs well both on and off road. Does great when pulling the boat out of the water. Tows really well, you can tell the boat is there but still has some get up and go when merging on to the interstate. Best of all, the truck will run forever. I often see them out there with over 200k mi. and most haven't had to replace much of anything. They hold their value extremely well, mine KBB is over $8000 with 110k mi. and its 9 years old. The Limited trim throws in all the options. Leather has held up well.

I tow my 18' Four Winn bow rider with a Johnson 150hp Ocean Runner. The boat, trailer and tank of gas weight in at 3260 lbs.

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

I don't know maybe this should start another thread, BUT especially you guys who are towing with smaller tow vehicles. How hot does your rig get towing? I have a 91 cherokee with automatic trans and the 4.0 motor. When I use the 195 thermostat it gets well up toward the red. I used a 160 thermostat during the summer and that helped towing, but if I wasn't towing it ran cool. I was told this meant the choke stayed on because it never saw the right temp. I do have the auxillary trans cooler on. Just wondering what anyone else sees in the temp range.

I run a 97 Jeep cherokee with the 4.0 and an auto. I also have 35" tires and a trans cooler. While towing (my 17' flat bottom, a party barge, a car) I usally will only increase to 210*-220* while towing in 100* humid weather.

If you want more help look over on www.naxja.org or send me an email at arkansascrawler@hotmail.com

I pull my Bayliner 185 with my 06 Trailblazer. Pulls pretty good. It works it a little on the long hills though. Also have an 07 Dakota quad cab 4x4 with a v8 i'm going to pull it with next season. Need to get a hitch on it.

I am slightly amazed at the number of you who pull your boats with gassers. As I do not believe in sending a boy to do a mans job, :) I pull my 1988 21 ft Sanger with a 02 F-350 Power Stroke. I will be honest in saying that I have a Lance slide in camper as well which usually goes where the boat goes. In the Colorado mountains I really like the power!!

Cannot afford desiel gas or the truck it goes in. Titan rated for 10K and the boat is about 4500 mabey loaded. Plus I dont tow that much. If I was hauling anything over 5k consistantily I would get a desiel. I cannot argue they pull better.

No problems? really?!?! haha I like how this thread turned into a "my truck is bigger than yours" thread.

I use my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer LT to haul my 1975 Sea Ray SRV 190. IMO it does an excellent job but like lets fish said there could be a little bit more power on the long hills. Alll in all a great truck to tow with!
