Hate to be a stick-in-the-mud, Mordekai, but you're over the towing capacity of your Rogue. Max is 1500# with the factory towing package, 1000# without. The limitation is mainly the CVT.

EDIT: That has been deleted, NYBo. JB

I didn't mention anything about safety per se (although that is certainly a consideration). I was referring to the relative weakness of the very expensive CVT.

I pull my 1978 bass boat with my 1987 Silverado 4x4 with a 350 V8. You never know the boat is behind you and quietly goes into overdrive and averages about 17mpg in flat terrain. No problems at the ramp unloading or loading.

Here is my setup - 04 Avalanche Z66 (2wd) pulling a 1986 21' Sea Ray Seville Mid Cabin on a ShoreLandr tandem. The boat is within 100 lbs of the weight of the truck & trailer and it pulls it fine, Never had a problem towing or at the launch.

little overwieght for the truck as well as i had to buy a class 4. 7 inch raise[almost nonexsistant] then replace the original class 3 reciever that was hanging on by prayers only, and then the braket that holds my leaf springs in place. hopefully this year there will be no suprizes. only nice thing is ford built tough dont replace trannys :)

I pull my 18' Sea Ray Seville Bowrider with an 08 Ford Escape V6 4x4. You definitely know its there, but never had a problem pulling her up out of the water. Just make sure you have plenty of time to accelerate up to highway speed.

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

Picked up a cheap 1994 Ford F250 Supercab 2WD with a 460 V8 to use for towing now. The difference is amazing. The extra wheelbase alone makes for a much more stable tow package. Not to mention the extra HP.
F250-Boat003.jpg

Still have the same old F250 as before but I moved up a little in boat size.
'92 Cruisers 2870 Rogue 32' Overall with bow pulpit and swim platform, and a 9 1/2' Beam, weighing in at about 12,000lbs on a galvanized Eagle triple axle trailer with brakes on all 3 axles. Kind of makes my F250 look like a Ranger.
