Re: What do you think about the board?

We've enjoyed this site alot. We first found it looking for info. for our boat and got more than we ever expected when getting answers. Then we needed fishing advice and also got more help than we expected and fast too. I enjoy the topics in Dockside Chat. It keeps me up on views of society. Overall I give it a Big 10.
Bassy :)

Hey Snapperbait, lighten up! What's the matter with a place to express your angst? ;)

~~~ 10 ~~~
This board has provided me with friends, atmosphere, knowledge, a place to vent occasionally, a place to input at times when asked or when it seems obvious to do so, but most of all a place in computerland where it feels like you guys are all around me and just a call away. Isn't that great. Theres a whole famly out there who share boating, fishing and friendship. I cherish that a lot. I'm not religious but appreciate when folk ask for prayers, or support. I love it when somebody has something to celebrate.
Thank you iboats for making that happen.
Thank you to everybody that posts here for making it interesting.
Lets see if we can do our small part of the bargin and keep it interesting and truthfull.
Ross
Re: What do you think about the board?
Like a lot of people I was looking for information when I found IBOATS. Found it doing a google search. Asked a question and got the answer the next day when I get home from work.
IBOATS is the last thing I do every night now before going to bed. 12am-2am west coast time.
I first go through the techie side but by that time most questions that I can help on are usually taken care of. Then I come here to see what everyone is up to. I would give it a 10+ on the techie side and a 10 here.
what I like: learning as much as I can about boats
and motors from all the experts here and the
comradary of the great folks here. I consider a
bunch of you guys as my pals and I cherish your
time each and every day.
nobody's perfect, me included, and we have all
made mistakes in judgment from time to time.
even the mods are allowed to be human and make
mistakes without being strung up...
maybe we all just need a little understanding?
peace,
M.Y.
Re: What do you think about the board?
I have to admit, I don't read ALL the techie threads, but do read a few. I most often visit the fishing and boating areas, and this section.
I rate the ability to find information related to technical problems and/or help phenomenal. As with most general discussion areas of forums, there are always differences of opinion. Let's face it, it would extremely boring if there weren't. It’s a great place to get an opinion and to give one. I enjoy healthy debates and a good joke to lighten my day. I enjoy the people here and the diversity of opinions and personalities. And though I would like to see members play a little nicer sometimes...
I understand this can't always be the Good Ship Lollypop.
I give iboats boating forum a BIG FAT 10!
Re: What do you think about the board?
I read the techie threads, but don't post much because my expertise just doesn't match up to most of the others here. I have really enjoyed this site, though, and it is one that I come to every chance I get (even more than the weather sites)!
I would give it a strong 8, weak 9 (because as others have said, there is always room for improvement and some have gotten too sensitive here - that is why I have stayed out of the political and social posts recently, which has been hard for an opinionated fool like me to do!).
10 for me, too. :cool: I found this place when I bought my first boat in July of this year. Have asked several questions and all have been answered here. I have contributed to far less that I have asked, but as my boating experience has grown so has my ability to answer other newbie boating questions. That's what is great, we all learn here. As far as General discussion is concerned, I think it is great to be able to develope relatationships here, like the iboats get together. Fantastic site.
DUH!
united we stand, divided we fail/fall...
(play 60's music here)
everybody get together, try to love one another
right now...
where's the hippie chicks?
:cool:
peace,
M.Y.
A 10, no doubt. Quit whining if you are. You cannot get the kind of help here anywhere else without opening your wallet.
I do find the Dockside chat (formerly NTDWB) section good for the business, however. It encourages folks to visit more frequently and potentially shop the mega mall (I have, good boat cover from here by the way). It does require some bit of regulation/discipline, as does anything....and before going any further I am very anti over-regulating but some rules are needed. Thanks to the mods, who perhaps should have a better name than "moderator," for doing the aforementioned. Perhaps they should be called "Enforcers." :D
Re: What do you think about the board?
Even though I live far away, and most of the merchandise from the USA is most likely easier to get and cheaper (More competition). I must admit that as my first Boat and motor was aquired less than 12 mths ago.. I only had my basic automotive mechanical experience. The members on here have really increased my knowlegde to the extent where I am confident to operate and work on the boat and motor. We have nothing that comes close in Aus and it does deserve a 9 or 10 leaving room to develop.
Re: What do you think about the board?
On tech and other advice 10+
On the rest about a 8 or 9 untill recently and then it has dropped to about a 3. It used to be a good place to hang out and talk about stuff but now everyone wants to whine, moan and B.... about things or post things that they know will tick someone off and get into a name calling match. Used to we could talk about a deep topic and for the most part actually discuss it but now it is a "I hate you you hate me let's hang each other from a a tree" to steal the theme music from a popular kids show.
