here's my boat:

stackz-albums-thundercraft-restoration-picture51712-dscn3126.jpg

the cockpit is 7' long and measuring via the old (original) top, is 62" if I measure from the original mounting points on the inside portions of whatever that part of the boat is called (lol, I call it the sides of the boat).

If I measure from the top middle of the side portions its 68".

the old top is 20" tall from the top of the boat sides to the fabric and it attached at the windshield (never been a fan of that).

I'm looking at getting a longer top as well as a taller top.

here's the awesome sale iboats has going on right now and the one I'm looking at. I'm thinking of mounting to the top of the boat sides versus on the inside of them to get a little more wiggle room in the cockpit area. the tops come with hardware but does it come with the hardware to mount to the outside of the windshield as I see on others or is that something you buy separate?

here's the top I'm looking at:

I'd like to get the 6' long one at this height/width but it doesnt show up and I cant decide on whether to get the silver or white one...

Good idea to mount on the hull sides if you have access for a backing plate. The hardware will be fine, mount the hinges in a vertical orientation to line up with the bimini tubes and rotate the tube end fittings to fit.

A 6' top is available on iboats with the correct width.

Silver or off white would be nice, or pick up on the interior color for contrast

yeah, a 6' is available but not for the absolute steal price of $119 shipped with cover...which is the ones I'm looking at.

anyone think I should go taller on the top versus keeping it inline with the original top's height? kinda thinking I'll want to be able to walk under it.

how much top speed will I lose with this thing?? my neighbor was mentioning these types turn into parachutes at speed basically.

the boat with the old top would do 35-40mph via gps but the old top snapped to the windshield so no wind would get caught under it.

My personal opinion, having owned a boat with the convertible top, that is the what you are describing, and now owning one with the tall bimini, go with the tall bimini, that way you can stand up straight and walk around instead of being crouched over. Once you have the tall bimini you can then save up your penny's until you get enough to put a full enclosure on it, I see you are from SC, you will then be able to boat most all year round and be comfortable in the enclosure. You probably will not lose much speed with the top up, I don't with mine, I don't always have it open. So I run both ways and do not notice much difference in speed.

Hmmm, I read the subject line and thought that you were a Hooters girl. Sorry, it's early and I couldn't resist.

the boat in your sig looks like the style mine is. how tall is your bimini out of curiosity? I took the measurement from the top of the boat side to the old top but didnt think about taking the measurement from the floor to the boat side :(

I just dont want to order it too short and always have to crouch around in the boat lol.

I do not remember the exact height that they told me when I bought the boat, I want to say it is 80+ inches. I am 5'10" tall and I have at least 12" clearance above me when standing up.

Re: what do you think about this top and my measurements??

well, I ordered my top just now. I guess word of this sale must have caught on because from the time I started looking yesterday around the time I started this thread until just now, pretty much all the good sale sizes/colors were gone. Had to go with a darker blue top which wont match my white/gray color scheme too well but its better than red/green/black lol.

I knew I had another picture of my boat with the bimini up, just could not find it yesterday.
I am actually sitting on the sun pad with my feet on the rear seat.
