The lead based paint recall was a huge lawyer induced frenzy, the chances of that paint hurting anyone are slim to none.

However, the Aquadots was dangerous.

If you dont know Chinese people, they are very good business people, but they still havent progressed to where saftey comes first. They will cut corners anyway they can, even if it will hurt people.

When working in China, we had a truck pull up to our wharehouse with about 10% of the sacks busted and it was a huge safety hazard. We couldnt even unload the stuff. It turns out he double stacked the pallets and he was about 2 x the legal weight limit. During the investegation, the driver bragged he had recntly carried even more product than that on a different trip. In other words, safety...who cares.

Wishful thinking.....;)
It will all eventually blow over 'til the next time.....
Nothing will stand in the way of the BIG CORPORATIONS BIG PROFITS....
Nothing!......

I dunno about this. Lots of folks talking on other websites about going to other sources (usually USA or Canadian made). I think they're going to take a hit, how big (or small) is the question I would have.:)

they all are complicit - from the US mfg to the chinese mfg.

My SIL company makes things in china and she is always going over.

It is a wild west economy anything goes - no rules.

So the american companies HAD to know, i think even mattel apologized, becuase the chinese had proff they were only doing what they were told to do.

I know if you put a plant in china UL makes you recertify anything that comes out of the chinese plant. my wifes company said the 1st year no product out of their china plants could get UL approval - they all caught on fire!!

They thought the same thing with a yugo - it is cheap and people will buy...n

i hope the costs go up to deal with safety and other regulations - it will even things back out on the pricing issues.

So, from what I've read, only American corporations are bad? Anything else (China) is just a "learning curve".

We do love our cheap stuff as long as it doesn't have an American name plate.

Simple economics tells you that the profits go directly to the nameplate the corporation operates under. Built here, maybe. Profits here-NO. Toyota=Japan. Nissan=Japan and France. Mercedes=Germany. The list goes on. We, as Americans all work but we tend to hate anything we work for? Huh?

We're driving ourselves right into the ground.
