so i recently brought my outboard to the "authorized" service center because of a misfire at high rpms,
i checked spark, compression, fuel, and carbs everything appeared to be in good workin condition. After i couldnt figure it out is when i brought it to the shop. they had it for over a week untill they called me with bad news. they told me that they lost spark from the stator, Now if thats the reason why it was skipping and they fix it for 600$$
then great.... but if they replace the stator and that does not fix the problem, then what?????

I brought it to them in ok running condition it had a little skip, it didnt seem like a big deal, and they Lost spark from the stator?...thats kind of a big deal. Im just curious what happens when you spend a chunk of change to fix something that went wrong in their hands, and the real reason you brought it in there in the first place is still unknown? is it their responsabilty to ensure my satisfaction?

Re: what do you think?

dunno.
"autherized" means a lot to a lot of different folks.
does that dealer employ a master tech with a certificate on the wall?
is it strictly 5 star with no school module training certs on the wall?
yes a bad stator can cause an ign miss.
but by your description other than its carburated we cant say anything more.
post the full model number.
