Took the boat down to have the water pump changed this week, they called and said the drive shaft is frozen to the crankshaft and they could not budge it, so I took a ride down there and they moved it about a 1/4 inch. So what he suggested he said for 75. I can get a used shaft and he cut the shaft with a sawzall and dropped the lower unit. he try to remove the shaft with heat ,no go, finally he drilled and tapped the end of the shaft and 2 whacks with a slide hammer it pulled out........ Now it was so rusted and pitted to took out several splines on the crank. He said he could put back together with no guarantees or replace the crank w/ new crank bearings ,rings, drive shaft , waterpump ,reseal the lower unit, The compression on the cylinders was 131 to 134 all cylinders and a full year warranty, I'm in to him for 6 bills already for another 2400 for the rest ........Your opinions? 1983 150 Mercury that looks and run like new
