98 suburban with 9in lift and 36in tires. 4.88 gears and programmer, with add. external tranny cooler, pulls my 22 proline cuddy fish like its a 4wheeler.
I use my '00 GMC Sonoma 2WD to tow my little 12' Sea Nymph. Works great! I'll be trading her in soon for a V8 4X4 to tow my other, heavier boat that will be done soon (hopefully).
1978 chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup 4 wheel drive positraction rear end lift kit ( bottom of the door is about waist high) and tires that look like they belong on a small tractor. The Chevy people are wondering- does it still have a cam? The answer is "No, I don't believe so"
I'm working on a patriotic (1976) suburban lower to the ground, real road tires, and the hitch isn't so high so I won't run out of travel on the trailer jack when I unhook.

I pull my 2003 Chaparral weighing in at close to 3500 wet with trailer with a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette mini van with a tiny 3.4 Liter V6 with factory tow package. This van has taught me that the steepness of the ramp doesn't seem to matter. Apparently 210 lbs of tourqe is plenty. It will take on the steepest, longest ramp anywhere and yank out my boat with just a little pedal to my and onlookers suprise. The problem is if it is slippery or if the trailer is ever even the slightest bit angled from the van, then it will spin for the obvious frontwheel drive/weight in the back reasons. Half of my stress pulling this boat is wondering if the transmission is going to go out at any moment while towing. It has 116k miles but shows no signs of trouble. I don't think most folks realize that some minivans are as big/bigger and close to as heavy as most midsized and some full sized suv's with the exception of being on a car frame. All that said it is time for a new-used 4wd SUV and give the van a break. I am thinking Trailblazer/Envoy since they have such low resale and are plentiful.
My retirement toys: 2008 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4WD V-6 and 2008 Lund 1750 Fisherman w/Merc 115 four stroke. Newbie boater last year. Had her out 30 times. What fun! -Ken

We normally pull our 22 foot Larson with a 2005 Dodge 4X4 Quad cab long bed with a 450hp 800 foot pounds of torque Cummins, with a tow package. Its lifted 6 inches with 37 inch tires. Its a tow BEAST. Its a LONG LONG rig all hooked up!
We also have a 2002 Durango R/T with a 5.9 and all wheel drive also with a tow package.
