I picked up my 19' Dynasty Apollo 190 (4.3 v6) bowrider about 6 months ago and ive been working on her here and there.

One thing I've always wondered...the name of the boat is TAPPER TRAPPER

I don't even know where to start, any idea?:D:D:D

Re: What does my boats name mean?

You've probably seen this already... I googled the name and came up with this: http://www.jstor.org/pss/1151854 It's a remote possibilty. I'd say the person who named the boat would have to be a bit of an obscure philosipher for this to have been his inspiration. Could very well be an inside joke of the person who named the boat... Who knows:confused: If the person you got the boat from didn't name it, ask them who did, or who they got it from, and how you can get in touch with them. If you can get a name, do a Google search and try to contact them. Good luck; and let us know how it turns out. Post some pictures of the boat. Where did you get it? Did you buy it, or under what circumstances did you aquire it?

I have an ideal but you do not want to hear it. This is a family oriented forum. The trapper part refers to get out and swim.

Have you tried the previous owner?

I have not asked him specifically. He has more than 20+ boats all over his property and does resto's for a living. I suppose I could ask him but I figure he's got no clue.

I bought it, complete with engine and outdrive (engine removed) and all bits, interior in rough shape, and a slightly rusted trailer for $600. I feel like with all of the mechanical parts it was a good deal. From the spark arrestor to the prop, I have everything.

Really the only thing I can think of is...

Tapper - Tap Her
Trapper - Trap Her

........aka, having a child....trapping her.....maybe??

Also, what the consensus on changing the name of your boat? Is this forbidden? I am thinking something like DOCKED WAGES. I think that's really clever, but I don't want to make the gods angry.

I was given a boat and was worried about the same thing. It ends up the previous owner never named it. (witch is supposeto be bad luck too.) I ended up naming the boat after the deceased husband that the boat was given to me. "Peachy Kiehn"

If the boat was named before me, I would have kept it no matter what it was.
I need all the luck I can get.

Maybe it belonged to a young guy and tappper refers to a beer tap or "tapper" is used to reference a beer.

You can get good advice on the web, including the full ceremony if you're so inclined. All designed to appease Poseidon/Neptune. Since it always consists of a formal ceremony complete with fancy words, friends and high-quality liquor... who wouldn't want to perform it?

My guess is that the previous owner was an outdoorsman who "tapped" maple trees for maple syrup and "trapped" animals. Hence he was a tapper trapper. Tapping and trapping are common hobbies in many rural areas.
