I have used the black fiber type on my old boat. And last year i bought the yellow ones to replace the old black ones. Now searching for new seals i see blue gaskets. Which ones are the best? Is there a certain one that i should be using? I am sure they will all do the job but i want it to be right. 2001 Mercruiser Alpha One. Thanks.

Assuming your drain plugs take the gaskets, and not rubber orings. Those gaskets have come from Merc in several colors, including gray, blue and yellow. All with the same 12-19183 part number.

The type plug. If the gasket surface is flat on the plug itself, then it takes the gasket, If it has a groove in it for an oring, well, it takes an oring. The drive can use either, it just depends on the the plug.
