My 5.7 came with the 500cfm(370 when flowed like a 4bbl) 2bbl. It was too small as I was seeing about 4.5 - 5" of Vacuum at WOT. With the 650 it was 1.0" the Secondaries weren't fully open, but it didn't need all 650cfm a 5.7 spinning 5000 isn't going to use more than 415cfm at 80% VE
Gained a little over 5mph when I put the 650 on the 5.7, which put me in the upper 60s
As for Carter Carbs, I just don't like them. My favs are the Q-Jet, because though it is hard to change any of the Bleeds, it still can be used in many apps, on many Engines. It is really an Almost 'Fits' any Engine,.
Next is the Holley, which are easy to tune for Power or Economy, but no so easy to get both at once, unless you are willing to do some Butchering.
