What engine????

Picked up an engine with a 15 hp cover and the following #s on Plate
Model 10424S serial# E0003478
I assume this is a 9.9 hp engine and I think the year is 1974......am I close in my research. Thanks for the help.....Peter

Looks like you got it.Someone must have needed a 9.9 cover for a 15 on a
10 hp limit lake.

Thanks...thats what I thought. Also, would you happen to be familiar with the cooling system on this engine. Looks like a bit of water comes from the bottom of the cooling head Inside the cover and runs out the small hole directly below it until thermostat opens.....then is sprayed from the hole a few inches below on the outside of the engine. Is this correct.....or is there a small leak in cooling head gasket. Thanks for any info......guess its time to get a shop guide.

there should be no water leaking inside the eng.cover on purpose,if im understanding your question,the water that comes out the little hole should start almost immediatly after start,those engines should have the impeller changed at least 1 a yr.the tend to breakdown
