What exactly is "trimmed all the way down"?

I'm now adjusting my trim limit and sender switches. I'm not really sure what "trimmed all the way down/in" means. I know what it literally means, but it seems I have three choices:

1) trim it down until it bottoms out completely (which looks like it would drive the bow down into the water)

2) trim it down to where the paint ends on the trim cylinders

3) trim it down to where it looks about right if it were on plane

I guess there's not a lower trim limit stop?

Thanks

It means #1 in your list.
Paint on the cylinders means nothing but where the paint ends and where they put the masking tape.
#3 is not all the way down.

The answer was your first...until it stops.

And 'yes'...unlike the upper trim limit switch (to prevent you from going into trailering position unexpectedly), the lower trim simply cannot go any farther.

Happy boating!

"I'm now adjusting my trim limit "

...and your stern drive manual will give you an inch dimension, measured at the lift cylinders, to set your trim limit switch.

FWIW....Ed in 'ol Virginny

Yes. I'm following the instructions in the manual.
