what type of glue do I use to glue plywood together for transom and when I syall my first peice to the outside Glass what to I use to adhear to the glass? thanks
Gorrila glue is good to bond the wood, or any glues made with Urethane polymers I believe is the main chemical. The glass, west systems brands, or system 3 is good.
polyester fiberglass resin with one layer of 1.5 oz chopped strand matt between each lamination.
also use the matt between the hull and the transom.....
better take some time and read on this site.... it can save you a world of hurt....
the hull ext thread is the best glassing and how to with deep details....there is a index on the front page, to the transom building and instlation page.
the compleated projects forum is a reallly good place too....
thanks guys yeah Ive been reading every post I can find on this. alot of good advise appreciate everyones help. I like the matting and resin seems like it would be stout. I m going to stager my transom with the seems at on the outside on opisite sides of each other and then attach 3/4 plywood on the inside to overlap my cut out here is the boat Im sure you guys have already seen it the rot only goes 1/2 way down the transom going to either put on a 72 80hp merc or a 74 115 hp evinrude
