I cut my stringers today and they fit perfectly. I have a few questions before I put them in though. Mainly, I have heard that the wood is not supposed to touch the hull directly, but what should go between the stringer and hull? Thank you, Vandy

Thanks oops, so just anything to keep the wood from touching the hull? Because I don't want to add too much height to my stringer.

Bed them in peanut butter. Do a search "bedding stringers peanut butter" and there is lots of info as this topic has been discussed many times.

Have a great day,

Rob.

yuppers.!
wood on the hull means a hard joint and will not allow the flex needed....too much flex, and failure will occure.

you just need 1/8 to 1/4 off the hull.

and as guru rob said...peanut butter is a common beding material.

another is pl perimum. pl stone and mortor, pl 9000. 3m 5200.

Question reguarding "flex".

Question reguarding "flex".

When glassing deck to hull, how flexible is the bond? Now I'm worried since I just did my deck. Or does it not matter?

No it is not exposed to constant pounding that the lower hull is exposed to..;)
