A guy a while back posted that he had a $30 fix using a Ford F400 regulator/rectifier. Has anyone else verified it? I know the F400 part number was in question. I also wonder what the year and make/model was for the part in question. I'm game to try it since it looks like my regulator is open. No ohm readings. I'll still need to start it after getting towed in on Sunday. I've replaced and cleaned up a lot of electrical ends and am charging my second battery. Will try to start tonight and get some readings. I was thinking about the same thing from my experience with old Fords when I read his post. I am worried about the heat that will be generated and how well this might handle that, but for $30 it's worth a try and see what happens.
I've had the boat 3 years and other than a shift cable and that radiator hose type thing that covers the drive shaft that split on the outdrive and cost me $650, everything else has been working fine until now. I use it almost every weekend for fishing and crabbing in the San Francisco bay, delta and out the Golden Gate.
Thanks all,
Rich
