What in my lower end?

Hi,

In the process of changing my water impeller. After taking off the lower unit i see this in the bottom of it...not sure what it is. Its loose but i cant grab it good enough to pull it out. Tried turning unit upside down and hitting the piece and it still wont come out. I assume since its been in there its not a issue but just wanted to double check your thoughts.

Not sure how big it is-possibly the remains of your water shutter?

It may be a part of your exhaust water shutter item #6 for example,

If you are working on an Alpha I Gen II, it looks like the filler wall (item 9 in the picture below).
It fits into some notches in the upper.

Buy a long pair(is it really a "pair"...it's only one???) of locking forceps to reach down in there.

You should be able to remove the prop and reach in through the exhaust passage and push it up with a long screwdriver or something.

yup that was it...thanks for the tip to get it out. whar is the purpose for that anyway?

As Don said, "it looks like the filler wall ". It must fill a gap, and make a wall?! hahaha

yea but its not water tight. that just doesnt seem to do anything. that just cant be tho.

It just directs the exhaust away from the pump.
