I'm new to inboards, but just a 1968 Larson in excellent shape except for the motor. The guy said it lost most of it's oil due to a crossthreaded oil drain plug and it started running funny so he shut it down and has'nt run it in 2 years. He proceeded to tear the head off and did'nt know what he was doing so I got it like that. My question is: I want to rebuild the motor myself. But what exactly is this motor? I was told they are just the motors out of the old chevettes, but how can I determine what mine is? The title says "Mercruiser 120" So I need to know what parts to buy for the motor.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the help and info anyone could pass on.
P.S. If i were to just replace it, what should I replace it with?
