A friend told me about some kind of liquid stuff that's supposedly commonly available which is good for cleaning carbs, etc, if you think you got water in 'em, etc. I think he called it "tuneup". Whatever, I never heard of it. But, he wants me to get some and try it, because I didn get a dose of water through one of my tanks, and I strongly suspect some got into the engine. Yes, I've since drained the filters, etc, etc. Just thought I'd try running some of that whatever that he thought was so good through it.

Re: what is it?

rbigg....Your friend is probably talking about engine tuner, or as most people call it, decarb. It doesn't neccesarily clean the carb, it really gets all the built up carbon out of your combustion chamber and your rings. Do you mean that you had water in your fuel and ran it through your motor? If so the best thing to do would be to drain all of that fuel out and clean your tank. Then I would take the carbs off and take them apart and clean them, this is the only real way to clean carburators. If by filters you mean fuel/water separators, I would replace them instead of just draining them and reusing them. What kind of motor are we talking about here and what year?
