What is Marine Tex

Hi guys, <br /><br />I keep hearing about this Marine Tex..<br /><br />I've not seen anything wiht that name in Australia, so I was wondering what it is???<br /><br />I mean I know from reading here that it is some soft of filler material... but what is it specifically???<br /><br />regards<br /><br />Franki

For us boaters, Marine tex is almost indispensable. It's right in there with duct tape and WD-40. Hope you can get some-you'll like it.

it's a 2 part epoxy putty mix.. comes in white an black.. that's all it is.. but as like JACK says,, it'll rivel chemical & biological sealent tape .. aka 'duct tape' <br /><br />FRANK,,can you get & order & recieve products from our catalogs .. such as ''boats us'',, west marine,, overtons,, bass pro,, ect..??? <br /><br />always wanted to ask..

Marine Tex is the wonder drug of boats....fixes everything (and it also comes in grey).<br />My #2 boat, "Rancid Rose," an 18' Lavro drift boat is used for running white water in between steelhead and salmon fishing spots on the various tributaries of the Columbia. We run over rocks, into boulders and in general beat it up pretty good. Once a year I turn it over and slap Marine Tex into the gouges and scrapes. After 22+ years, the bottom and rockers are mostly Marine Tex. While a sharp rock may knock a chunk out of fiberglass, it doesn't seem to faze the Marine Tex. I love the stuff!

So in essense its a two part filler system for fiberglass.???<br /><br />Sounds great..wish I could order some.. but stuff like that can't be easily shipped overseas...<br /><br />I have bought stuff from the US before, but most of the time, the cost of shipping is prohibitive.<br /><br />regards<br /><br />Franki

It's a two-part epoxy for just about any application, not just fiberglass. Go to their website: http://www.marinetex.com/ and ask them if they know of any dealers in your area. They have a bunch of great products, including the putty stick that can be used underwater.

It is the perfect pre proportioned filler epoxy(I think) mixture. You have a resin paste and mix in the hardener to get the perfect consistency and color putty for patching. It is easily sandable when hardened.
